The Mendoza Line is a term in baseball that came from the name of shortstop Mario Mendoza, whose batting average is taken to describe his lack luster batting average. Well my year so far has been a series of lost opportunities on Big Bass, had I converted on all my lost big fish my top 5 for the year would be pushing 50 lb’s. Yesterday was a continuation of yet another missed huge fish. I won’t bore ya’ll with all the minuet details although I could describe them step by step including what I was wearing LOL Don’t get me wrong I’ve had a blast catching some nice fish plus I’ve seen some amazing outdoor events that I’ve never seen before. I’m also proud to say that I’ve put several family members and friends on their personal best bass which is the next best thing to catching one yourself, yeah right.LOL

LOL It hasn’t been due to lack of preparation, equipment or the way i’ve played the fish. It’s just like I’m snake bit this year although I still have five months left to improve my batting average and get off the Mendoza line!! All the adages you can come with, get them next time, keep your chin up and so on and so on all are good and encouraging but I need to turn this train wreck around… Not sure if i’ve pissed off the Fish Gods but if I did please forgive me LOL I’ll keep working on it, in the mean time this quote from a noted Big Bass Trophy Hunter gives me perspective… “Appreciate the water, man. Appreciate how lucky you are to be out on the water, whether you catch a fish or not, you know. ”…… Mike Long

Until next time, Stay on Em!!
